dgrade was born following the frustration of constantly running out of biodegradable dog poop bags.

Our golden retriever goes through a healthy 3 or 4 dog poop bags a day, which works out at over 1000 dog poo bags a year - eek. As regular buyers of biodegradable dog poo bags, we struggled to find packs with more than 50 bags, which lets face it, when you have more than 1 dog - don't last very long. Coupled with this was the hassle of driving to out of town retail parks... There had to be a better way?

We'd like to think we are pretty green. The thought of conventional plastics taking 100's of years to degrade is something we should all avoid. For a start, our dog poo bags are made here in the UK. We could of course source our bags from overseas however we are conscious both supporting UK manufacturing and keeping our carbon footprint and airmiles as look as possible. While other companies may offer cheaper biodegradable dog poop bags, please do check where they are made - it just doesn't make sense to have your poop bags imported from the other side of the world.

Our non-starch range of dog poop bags are made from polythene with a biodegradable additive included at manufacture which results in the bags starting to degrade once exposed to UV light (and even continues to degrade in the dark!). The technology was originally developed for farmers who wanted to plough their plastic mulch films into the land at the end of the growing season. Studies have shown that the material, from which these bags are made, can be digested by micro-organisms in the soil and so will become truly biodegradable in time. The material will ultimately degrade into water, carbon dioxide and a small amount of non-toxic mineral matter.

The bags that we offer start degrading once exposed to UV light and continue degrading even in the dark - so whether your bag is composted or not, you can be assured that the bags will be degrading from the moment you use them - even in the dark.
